AUTOSAN s a brand, which is well known to many generations of Poles. The history of the Autosan factory dates back to 1832, when two November Uprising insurgents, Walenty Lipiński and Mateusz Beksiński, opened a carpentry and blacksmith workshop in Sanok. The plant manufactured various types of boilers, as well as equipment for the oil and mining industries.

About half a century later, the factory underwent its first transformation in terms of the manufactured products. The business profile changed from the production of boilers, through the production of railway carriages and trams, to the production of buses in the next period of the company’s development. Till now, the company has delivered nearly 115,000 vehicles to domestic and foreign market.

In 2016, AUTOSAN sp. z o.o. became part of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A., which owns key entities for the Polish defense industry. The owners of the Autosan enterprise were Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and PIT-RADWAR S.A.

For almost a hundred years, the image of the stork has been inseparable linked with the Autosan factory. In the middle of the last century, these beautiful birds – symbols of the Polish landscape – built their nest on the chimney of factory buildings. Since then, subsequent generations of storks have been settling near the production halls. The stork wing element was presented in the first graphic trademark of the Sanok Bus Factory AUTOSAN, designed by its employee, the famous Polish painter Zdzisław Beksiński. The stork symbol was also found in all modifications of the compan logo, including the current one.
